Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance provisions, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Crediton, you must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may vary based on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category and held for the specified duration in the Rental Agreement, is required. You must also provide valid identification, proof of your current address, and payment information, including a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Crediton office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by you. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as it was collected, allowing for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Return the vehicle with the same fuel level as when it was picked up; refueling charges will apply for any discrepancies. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please inform us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur additional fees. You will also be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges accrued during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
5. Insurance and Liability
- Basic third-party insurance is included with each vehicle rental in Crediton. Comprehensive details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to further limit your financial responsibility. It is prudent to examine these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless further protection is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice period provided. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Uses in Crediton
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Prohibited activities include using the vehicle for illegal purposes or engaging in racing, rallying, or off-road driving. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside agreed geographical areas without authorization are also violations of our terms.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Crediton will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury arising from negligence, or for fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Your ongoing use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
